For those who suffer from rosacea you know that spicy foods can cause flushing. Because I prepare all the meals for my parents, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase my meals for the ultra-simple diet. I ordered four weeks worth of food. I am in the middle of the 2nd week. My face has been "flushing" somewhat more than usual; but I did not associate it with the spicy food since I normally don't eat this way. Last night I had the worst flare-up I have ever experienced. When I looked in the mirror I was shocked. My whole face, except for the area around my mouth and chin, looked like I had a very bad sunburn. My eyes were very puffy and my cheeks were lobster red, even my ears felt swollen. My skin hurt so bad it felt like my face was about to blister. There is no reason for the excessive use of peppers and red pepper in the food. All it does is mask the flavor of the food; which is unneccesary. I would highly recommend that anyone with rosacea choose the individualized menu option and try to eliminate as much of the spicy foods as possible or simply prepare all the food themselves.
Overall, I am enjoying the USD and am glad I did not have to prepare everything myself; although my face is suffering from what I consider the unneccesary addition of hot peppers to so many of the dishes. To the chef I would ask, please, tone it down. I never thought an elimination diet would cause so much trouble with my rosacea.

Thank-you for sharing your experience with us. I have passed on your comments re: the hot peppers in the food items and we take all our customers feedback seriously so we greatly apprecaite yours.
And you are absolutely right, hot spicey foods, caffeine, etc turns up the heat on the capillaries and can result in flushing.
Hope things have cooled for you!
