Nutritionist/Doctor - I'm stuck!

I was so happy with the 7 days (lost 7!) that I continued and am in my 3rd week - but I have NOT lost another pound since that first weigh-in; it seems odd, because after the first week of just walking/yoga, I went back to adding in my strength training and interval training workout at the gym. I thought I'd actually lose several pounds each week, but the scale hasn't budged. I am not eating after 7, and am following the food plan. Can my metabolism be stuck again; should I cut back on shakes or something? HELP!

Hi Vaz,I am curious to see

Hi Vaz,

I am curious to see what responses you get......my situation sounds just like yours but I an now in my 6th week. I lost about 7 lbs in the first week and none since then.  I exercise, drink plenty of water, don't eat at night......but I just increased my supplements based on my problem areas according to the UM book and I am hoping that may shift things toward some weight loss.

What has kept me invested is doing the weekly health tracker that goes along with the UM 8 week challenge. I had a severe toxicity score of 115 at my initial assessment and am now down to 15. Each week I have completed it thinking that it couldn't go much lower, but it has and I feel really good overall.

Good luck and let's see what others have to offer.....either way this whole program has opened my eyes to all the chemicals and preservatives in foods and has lead me to a healtheir more wholesome way of eating which I plan to keep up with and keep refining hopefully to the point that I'll get my extra weight off for good.

Best of luck and congrats on working toward better.

Thanks for the info. I have the UM book, too, and will look into the increased supplements; I am already doing the 'enhanced' version of the USD plan - with lots of probiotics, milk thistle, magnesium, and Vitamin C.

Unlike you, I did not have any toxicity, and have been very healthy. I'm in the 23/24 BMI range now and wondered if that level would slow down weight loss naturally, too.

Either way, I agree with you - I have been aware of chemicals, pesticides, etc, but have not always stuck with buying SO much organic, etc. though it's a big part of our lives.  I know I have put in place some lifelong knowledge and habits, that even when I go off for a bit on special occasions, I will be happy to step back into.

I'm a fan of Dr. Hyman after first seeing him on PBS a long time ago. I feel confident in his research and know I'm on the right path, just wish the scale would give me a little more reward for the effort!

Could it be possible that

Could it be possible that you are trading fat for muscle?  If you started strength training again, you could be building more muscle.  I would try not to rely so much on the scale, as there are many more important things to look at.

Yes, it is possible I'm

Yes, it is possible I'm building muscle - but I only took that week off during the initial 7-day program, as he suggested letting body work hard internally. I feel great, and am just back to my 'normal' routine. including the interval training he suggests in UM. I may cut out a shake or something and see if that helps.

Thanks for your suggestions. I appreciate it!. Best wishes in your success as well.
