Doing the UltraSimple Diet Doing the UltraSimple Diet

Hello my fellow UltraSimple Dieters,

I began the USD yesterday and fortunately for me, my weekends are Sunday and Monday so I am on Day 2 on an off day. Whew!

I'm doing the enhanced program so I began my morning with the lemon juice, olive oil and supplements, along with Rodney Yee's AM Yoga. Then, it's more supplements, lemon/hot water, green tea and the shake with flax. I love the shakes. It must be because I enjoy cooking that my veggie broth tastes really good. I've simply followed the recipes. No cheating at all :0). I enjoy the broth as long as it's hot. Today I went to the gym and did cardio for 50 minutes then came back to shower and eat lunch. So unlike some of you, I have pretty good energy. My symptoms haven't been too bad. Has anyone else had an achy stomach on and off throughout the day? I have. My Health Score was a 51 so honestly, I was surprised by this symptom. I also feel a bit bloated.Hmmm..

Now, to prepare for my 5 day work week I've got a few things in mind. However, I could use some additional tips--especially because I want to follow all of this and my career (I'm a television news reporter) has me on the go all the time. So far, I've prepared all of the veggie broth for the week, and four days worth of yummy brown rice. I have a thermos for the broth and a lunch bag (to hold lunch and dinner because I won't get off of work until 6/630), and a container to hold two servings of the UltraShake w/out the flax. I've also planned to pack the supplements for lunch and dinner in seperate sandwhich bags so I won't forget those. I'm going to look silly luggin all this stuff into work this week, but it's for my health so it's all good.

Today, I will prepare tomorrow's lunch and dinner, and all of the shakes and make sure I have everything packed and ready. If there's anyone else out there who's working on this enhanced program on a crazy schedule like me, please advise. I'm worried about getting all the exercise in. I will probably have to get up at 6 a.m. to do everything I have to do on this diet and prepare for work. Please share, I'd love to make buddies.

Best regards,

Iris

Hi Iris,

I can relate to your busy schedule.  A typical work day for me is back-to-back meetings.  I'm on Day 3 at work and this is what has worked for me thusfar:

-use single serving containers and store in the refrigerator.  I grab all the single serving containers I need for the day in the morning.

-I have time for the morning routine, but find I need to have the UltraShake in the car on the way to work

-sip the UltraBroth in a coffee cup or Starbuck's to go cup for mid-morning and mid-afternoon UltraBroth servings; easily portable to meetings and no one asks...

-add UltraBroth to rice and veggies at lunch (rice bowl)

-Trader Joe's single serving pre-cooked brown rice is a life saver if you need something convenient.  The serving size is large, so store the unused portion for later.

-use insulated mugs with a screw on lid to transport broth (less bulky than a thermos)

-I skip the shakes during the work day (too busy and too full)

I am continuing with my exercise schedule (60 min in the morning).  I am feeling less toxic and find that I actually have more energy.

Let us know how things go for you during your work week.

Hello Jana,

I'm impressed that you squeeze in your 60 minutes in the morning. Whew! I come home from work, pop in a 45 minute cardio/weights fat burn dvd and do that, prepare my meals for the next day, pack them up, do my PM yoga, hop in the tub for the bath and get to bed.

I definitely feel less toxic, and my colleages at work say my skin is glowing. I don't know about you but,  I'm not ready to get off of this program! I haven't cheated (although I've been tempted to nibble on the fresh veggies, legumes and brown rice that I make the night before).Nonetheless, I doubt I'm going to lose the 10 lbs I'd like to lose this week.  I want to keep at this, are you going to go on the UltraMetabolism plan?

I've been carrying my lunch and dinner and shakes (which I usually don't drink) in my lunch bag, I carry my thermos and 1L water bottle along with me on stories so I can have them with me and take supplements and meals/broth on time. It's worked all week. Surprisingly, it's not as stressful as I anticipated it to be.  Planning ahead has allowed everything to work out :0)

What do you do for your 60 min workout in the morning, Jana?

Best Regards,

Iris

Hi Iris,

Great to hear back from you!  I have been very pleased with this program - it's working for me.  I am naturally a healthy eater with some food intolerances so I find that I am not introducing any new foods/supplements which I am pleased about.  What was new for me this week was taking the time to slow down and also plan.  I find that I am much more productive this week with some relaxation time built in and a firm routine.  I am planning to continue the same program for 3 more weeks.  I will then take a look at other Ultra options - I haven't done enough research yet to know the differences.  How long are you thinking of continuing on your plan?

My morning routine is up at 5, olive oil/lemon & buffered vitamin C, lots of water; out the door by 5:45; exercise 6 - 7; followed by USD morning routine and then to work by 8:30.  It's working for me so far, although my mornings are now as busy as my work days.  This week's exercise consisted of: Total Conditioning class, Fitness Yoga, Spin, Fitness Yoga, Spin.  I'm planning a 7 mile run tomorrow and will end the week with Spin.  I like the more intense exercise.

I have not checked my weight.  Instead of weighing in at the beginning of the program, I took pictures.  I feel it's better for me to concentrate on how I look and feel rather than numbers since I am doing this program for my health and not the weight loss as a main focus/driver.  The weight loss then is a plus!

Wishing you continued success for the rest of the week!

Hi there, I'm planning to start the prog next week so I've been looking thru blogs to see what others have done. I was interested in what folks have done re shakes during the day -- no blender at most offices (I guess unless you work at Fridays!). How did the program go for you?

Hi Iris

Hi Iris

I know how you feel. I have to catch  bus at 7:00 every day. I have found that I really have to get up at 5 am to be able to have everything ready and to get out the door with rushing (and negating all the positive benefits o fthe yoga). I am now on day five of the program and I have found that as I have alot of energy, getting up early really isn't a problem anymore- I have become quite the morning person. You have probably already realized that you have to get more sleep. For myself, getting at leat 7-9 hours of sleep is more of an investment in myself and more of a beneft than anything I could do by staying up an extra hour or two.

As for looking silly, I bought one of those PC eco bags just for all the food I have to haul around - you are not the only one!

You said that you feet bloated. I felt great on day 2 but by day four (yesterday) I was feeling pretty bad. In fact, I had to take some laxatives and stay home but I am now fine.

Good luck and keep it up. I am pretty excited about losing weight, feeling great, and seeing immediate results!

Day 6!

Doing the UltraSimple Diet Doing the UltraSimple Diet

Hi Caolhfionn!

How much exercise do you get to squeeze in during the morning? I'm going to try to start squeezing all mine in then minus PM yoga because working out for 30 minutes after dinner/work is exhausting :0(. Also, it makes me hungry... which I shouldn't be feeling at 730/800 p.m. because I like to be in bed at 9/930 so that I CAN SLEEP!

Yes, sleep has become more important on this program. By the time 7 o'clock rolls around I'm so tired. What do you plan on doing after the 7th day? I am thinking about picking up ultra metabolism and figuring out what to do, or keep going on this program (minus all the supplements) for the next 2 weeks. I like how I'm feeling and think it might take going at this for 2 weeks and making this a permanent lifestyle in order to lose the 10 lbs I'm looking to lose.

I love the yoga! I might have to pick up a longer DVD for my morning routine. One that's specifically for weightloss.... that might do the trick!

Let's keep in touch!
