Saving vegetable broth after cooking

Doing the UltraSimple Diet 
Just realized today that after I cook all of these vegetables for the USD, I might be able to put the leftover cooking water to use by saving it. I've heard of people doing this before to put into soups, but I have never done that before. Maybe that would be some "free" broth for later. 
Just a passing thought......Has anyone else had any experience with this?

Yes - I save the water I use to cook vegetables in. I also save my vegetable scraps to add to my broth.
